I've written already about the college admissions scandal that enveloped actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Laughlin, among many others. Some, including Huffman, have already pleaded guilty. Others, including Laughlin, are continuing to fight the charges. The latter group's defense appears to be that the payments should be categorized as donations rather than bribery. Of course, the United States Attorney's Office disagrees. One AUSA prosecuting the case went on record as saying "It simply doesn't matter whether the money went to a coach's program or the coach directly . . . A bribe is simply a quid pro quo." I will stay abreast of the defenses and the prosecution of the case. In the meantime, if you have any criminal defense questions or need to hire a lawyer to fight for your freedom, make sure you call the Law Office of Alex Kriksciun today!
